about me

As a millennial working full-time, I share the uncertainty that many in El Cajon feel about the future. Like so many, I wonder how long I'll be able to afford rent for my apartment. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to afford a home.

Even so, I know that I am very lucky - I see so many unhoused El Cajoners sweltering in the heat, trying to get their lives back. I see small businesses working tirelessly to recover after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yet, in the face of these challenges, I am filled with hope. I see the strength in our community—neighbors and friends coming together to build supportive networks that uplift us all.

My husband Kelsey and I, along with our two dogs, Ella and Mr. Phil, are proud to call this community home.

I would be honored to represent you as your next City Councilwoman.

Why I’m Running

Our current city council doesn’t reflect many people in our community. I am running for city council to add representation for young people, working people, and people concerned about being priced out of the region. And since I haven’t lived in El Cajon my whole life, I don’t have preconceived notions about what El Cajon should be but I am brimming with ideas for what El Cajon could be. Most importantly, I am open and eager to learn what is most important to my neighbors in District 3 and bring their values, concerns, and perspectives to the Council.

I get things done. It can be easy to get caught up in the details and lose sight of the big picture.

I understand how to maximize the effectiveness of valuable taxpayer dollars using data. My formal education focused on public policy and statistics, and over the past 15+ years I have enabled leaders to make smart choices based on evidence and data, not hunches or intuition. I am currently a Principal Data and Research Analyst for the County of San Diego.  I am responsible for rigorously evaluating services that the county provides and advising leaders on the most cost effective and dignified ways to support residents in need.

Practical Problem Solver

I believe Local government is where the real work gets done. City leaders don’t have time to get caught up in politics when there are potholes to be filled, trash to be picked up, and residents in need of help. As the Director of Impact at the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, I worked with mayors and city leaders from around the world as they improved their leadership and management skills, enabling them to more effectively and efficiently serve their residents. I will bring this experience to City Hall to modernize how we think about the role of local government in people’s lives.

Champion for Local Government

Given tightening budgets and more demands for city services, we have to get creative about how we spend taxpayer dollars. I am a believer in trying new solutions to learn what really works. And I’ll be honest - not every idea will be an immediate success. But we need to use these failures as opportunities to learn and make adjustments. If we don’t try, we certainly won’t succeed.

Creative Thinker

I have dedicated my life to helping people to get their voices heard and I’m not afraid to speak up. As a teen, I advocated for the needs of my fellow students as the student representative to my local school board, which inspired me to study public policy at Brown University. I learned how to develop government policies that improve education for every student. I put this into action as Senior Statistician for the New Mexico Public Education Department, using data to support struggling schools.
