Working for you from day one,

I will…

Efficiently use your tax dollars

We need to take a magnifying glass to the city budget to make sure every single dollar is working for the residents of El Cajon. I will work with city staff to understand why costs are so high and how we can be more efficient. I will ask questions like why the city allocated a whopping $620,000 to air conditioners for the police department computer room.

I will also encourage city departments to explore other funding sources including grant funding from the state and federal governments and philanthropy so that we can do more without raising taxes.

Simplify processes to start

and grow your business

I will simplify and streamline the process to start and grow a business in El Cajon. Other cities have been successful in bringing businesses - and jobs- to their cities by simplifying forms, digitizing processes and creating a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs and business owners to interface with the city. These small changes can have a huge impact including reduced fees and shortening wait times for business owners, reducing city expenses, and bringing money and jobs into the community

Create new ways for you

to share your needs

Realistically, most people don’t have the time or interest to come to a city council meeting. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be heard. Residents know what the city needs and I will make it easier for more community voices to join the conversation. One easy way to start is to make an app for residents to report issues on the spot. Apps are also a great way to have two way communication so that residents can get regular updates on the status of their request. I will also provide opportunities for less formal conversations with me, such as roundtables at a restaurant or town halls.

Creatively improve public

safety and reduce crime

We can take small actions that make a big impact on public safety. Research shows that more public art such as painted intersections, murals, and public art installations can reduce pedestrian deaths and street crime, while also beautifying the city and bringing in tourism. As a first step, I will make sure that every major intersection has a visible crosswalk in addition to a cross light.

join me

I am open and eager to learn what is most important to you so I can bring your values, concerns, and perspectives to the Council. I believe our government will be stronger with more community perspectives and voices at the table. I’ll offer plenty of ways for you to engage with the Council outside of formal meetings. Please reach out to me at any time so that I can better understand how I can help.
